How Clothier Advisory collects, uses, and protects personal data.
Who we are
Clothier Advisory is a trading name of Mat Clothier, operating as a sole trader from Stoneleigh, Front Street, Chedzoy, Somerset TA7 8RE, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Mat Clothier is the data controller responsible for your personal data.
You can contact us about this policy or your personal data at mat@clothieradvisory.com.
What data we collect
We collect personal data that you choose to provide to us, principally through the contact form on this website or by emailing us directly. This may include:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your company or organisation name, if provided;
- the nature of your enquiry; and
- any information contained in the message you send.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track visitors across other websites.
How we use your data
We use the personal data you provide solely to respond to your enquiry, to correspond with you about potential or existing engagements, and to keep records of our business communications.
Lawful basis
We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interests — namely, responding to enquiries and conducting our advisory and consulting practice — and, where you have initiated contact with a view to engaging our services, on the basis of taking steps at your request prior to entering a contract. You are never under any obligation to provide personal data, but we cannot respond to an enquiry without it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was provided. Where an enquiry does not lead to an engagement, we will normally delete the related personal data within 24 months. Where an engagement results, relevant records are retained for the duration of the engagement and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, tax, and professional obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing purposes. We use a small number of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, including:
- our website hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this site and processes the contact form submission;
- our email and email-delivery providers, used to receive and respond to your enquiry.
These providers act on our instructions and are bound to keep your data secure. Some may process data outside the United Kingdom; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent) are in place.
Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies necessary for the site to function and to keep it secure. It does not use analytics, advertising, or non-essential tracking cookies, so no cookie consent banner is required.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email mat@clothieradvisory.com.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how your personal data has been handled, we would ask you to contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
